SALE High School has once again been recognised as a most improved school.

The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) rewarded the school's work in improving its GCSE results and reawarded membership of the Trust's Most Improved Schools Club for the fourth time.

Headteacher Kathleen Leaver said: "We are delighted with this accolade from the Trust, which recognises the work of staff and students in raising and improving exam results over the last few years."

Membership is awarded on a number criteria, including a school's achievement of a 10 per cent or more improvement in A* - C grades at GCSE between 2004 - 2007.

Elizabeth Reid, chief executive of the SSAT, said: "I would like to congratulate schools for achieving outstanding improvements in their GCSE results. It is important that we recognise success in the education system as it is the product of hard work, good leadership and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. This is the success that enables more young people to reach their potential.
